The Desert Tortoise Council is a private, nonprofit organization made up
of hundreds of professionals, and lay-persons from all walks of life,
from across the United States, and several continents. We share a common
fascination with wild desert tortoises and the environment they depend
upon.
• Desert Tortoise Preserve Committee **(Non-Federal Government) - The Desert
Tortoise Preserve Committee is a non-profit organization formed in 1974
to promote the welfare of the desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii)
in its native wild state. Committee members share a deep concern for the
continued preservation of the tortoise and its habitat in the
southwestern deserts.
